About

Hello! Val, Christina, and Rachel here. We’ve been friends since high school, and have always shared a love of reading. Over the years, we’ve spent hours wandering local bookstores or sharing our latest favorite. Oftentimes, our friends and boyfriends couldn’t understand it, or sit through hours of us comparing notes on the newest book. As the years passed, we all moved around to different corners of the country, and thought we should bring our conversation to the internet where we can openly show our nerdiness!

Snapchat-4019386576009327346 (002)Val lives in Central Illinois amidst the cornfields, and is currently a grad student getting her MBA with a concentration in analytics. She mostly reads fiction of all varieties. Rom-com and mystery are her favorite: a romcommystery is ideal. She refuses to pick a favorite novel, as there are far too many greats out there. Most of her time is taken up with graduate school, and the anticipation of her graduation present to herself: a Maine Coon kitten. She may not currently own a cat, but is [not so] secretly a crazy cat lady at heart. She travels all over the world, and enjoys winter more than most people as she is an avid snowboarder.

IMG_4853Rachel lives kinda close to Chicago, but not close enough. She’s currently a Guided Study Teacher, working closely with students who have a hard time passing classes. It works for her bleeding heart, and has led her to start grad school in order to get her Master’s in School Counseling. In whatever spare time she has left, Rachel tries to diminish her to-read list, goes on awkward first dates, and says “yes” to way too many responsibilities. She’ll read pretty much anything outside of rom-coms, so it’s a good thing Val’s got that covered. Her favorites include Historical Fiction, Magical Realism, and Classics (although she doesn’t get to those nearly enough as she should). The Harry Potter series were her first literary love, so there’s a good chance it’ll come up in conversation.

This means Christina gets to indulge in great coffee, amazing outdoors activities, and beautiful rainy weather. Mina works in Higher Education, working with college students helping them to discern their academic paths and encourage them to self-author their college experiences. While most people will say that college students are a mess, she loves it and couldn’t think of doing anything else! Christina can typically be found snuggled up in a comfy chair with a hazelnut americano in one hand and her current read in the other. If the weather is nice enough, Christina will trade out the comfy chair for her hammock by the water. While she’ll read just about anything, she is definitely always drawn to Fantasty of any kind! Her love of Fantasy absolutely comes from her first book love, which was Matilda by Roald Dahl. Christina is excited to share her her love of reading with all of you, along with her favorite gal pals! 🙂

Hi Ranie, Mina and Amelia, hope you don’t mind me contacting you on here. I’ve really enjoyed following your reviews on here. I just wanted to ask if you’d be interested in reviewing my Young Adult, Urban Fantasy novel, Descendants. It’s the first one in The Arete Series. I’m self-publishing it next month on the 12th April. I’d be happy to send you a link to the ARC e-book ( available to download in e-pub, mobi and pdf).

It’s inspired by Greek mythology, but instead of being about the descendants of gods, it’s about those cursed by the gods. Think Fallen meets Percy Jackson. (But more intrigue and action heavy than romance.) Think it might be most up Mina or Amelia’s street perhaps. I’ve put a link to the Amazon pre-order page and Goodreads so you can read the synopsis, as well as the cover image below.

Thanks for considering and hope to hear from you soon.

    All the best,

    Rae

    • Hello Rae!

I apologize for my super late reply! Your comments got lost!! I know that we’re way past your publication date, but your book definitely sounds like it would be right up my alley! I’m super interested in reading it and would appreciate it if you kept us on your review radar for the future!

We’ve also updated our names, so we’re going by our real names and not our pseudonyms!

      Thank you!
      Christina (formerly known as Mina)
