Almost Missed You by Jessica Strawser
I wouldn’t say there was anything particularly dramatic or too mysterious about this story (not like my usual picks); finishing this story left me with a very warm feeling.
I think we have all been there at one point or another; being stuck in a relationship and not knowing how to get out. Not really knowing what the right thing is, let alone wanting to do it. So one day Finn just takes his son and leaves his wife in the middle of a vacation. Until this point, their life has been a fairy tale, and has quickly turned into Violet’s worst nightmare. Unfortunately, Finn didn’t really plan this out, and winds up running to his best friend Caitlin, who is hiding her own secret that Finn threatens to expose.
Along the way, the secrets of Finn’s past come out, and although Violet was always told their story was a movie-worthy story of chance and fate, that’s not really what had happened. As Violet tries to reconcile with Finn’s demons, what it means for their future, and where her son is, Caitlin is trying desperately to help her long-time friend, while keeping her own marriage and life together.
Fortunately for all of them, in the end, it all works out 🙂
