January TBR Wrap Up

Hello readers!! We hope you have all had a great start to the new year and of course, a wonderful start to a new year of books!! With the wrap up of another month, comes another monthly wrap up post!

Mina: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi  five-star-rating-black-clip-art-hi
TBR Challenge: read a book by a person of color
Oh. My. Goodness. This book took my breath away. Given our current homegoingsocial and political climate, this book is absolutely going down as one of my most influential and important books that I will read this year. Yes. It’s that good. And yes. You NEED to read this book. Yaa Gyasi is an incredible storyteller, who knows exactly how to tug at your heartstrings. This is a beautiful ownvoices novel following generations of two families, with the ever constant theme of finding out what being “black” means to them. This is a powerful book about family, race and the power of storytelling and everyone needs to read this.

There you have it! We hope you’ve all had a great reading month and a great start to a new reading year! 🙂
